Joe Hisaishi Live

i love loooove music composition by this guy!

he's the one behind the music compositions of the famous "Spirited Away", "Howl's Moving Castle", "Kiki's Delivery", "Laputa", "Princess Mononoke", "Totoro", etc

i like most of the songs from "Spirited Away" and its also my all time fave animation movie. i mainly like the theme and/or ending songs from the other animations mentioned above.

Hope you'll enjoy the few clips i managed to find!

Ashitaka sekki (from Mononoke)

Tunnel Of Wind (from Totoro)

Ayaka Hirahara & Joe Hisaishi - Inochi no Namae

One Summer's Day (from Spirited Away)

谷への道 (from Valley of the Wind )

good find!

recently, my good friend (from SHP) told me that she uses iodine to heal her pimples. i was like "WHAT??!!" we all know that iodine is used on cuts and whats not and it leaves behind a ugly purple stain despite washing it off with soap. to use it on my face is a no-no, despite her assuring me that it washes of easily with soap. i do not want to leave my house with purple spots all over my face!

i kept on using my tea tree oil but it was drying out my skin along with my pimples and making my skin, pimples and makeup peel horribly. then i suddenly got a very good ideal!

antiseptic kills bacteria

dettol kills bacteria

i dug out a tube of dettol antiseptic cream (moisturising formula) from the drawer that my family keeps the first-aid supplies and dabbed some of the cream on the pimples on my chin. oh, at that time, i didn't dare to try it on my face yet.

the next day, i found that my pimples became smaller!! without the peeling part~!! woohoo~ i finally tried it on my face 2 days ago and it worked too~! and no peeling~~!!!!

and the best part of it is that it only cost $2.50 for 30g!! ^-^

just a reminder that dettol stings. so i suppose that unless you have a high threshold for pain, don't apply it on open wounds, in this case, pimples.

and also, don't try it on your face first! experiment it on somewhere (or someone else) first and see that there are no side-effects or itching or pain or etc...

organic surge update

in my previous post, i posted that i was using this 2 products as part of my night time routine and after using nightly for around 2 weeks, i realised that it does nothing much for my skin and its not moisturising enough for my combination skin (ie. dry cheeks and oily nose).

for the nose part, it is quite alright but it isn't hydrating enough for my cheeks, chin and forehead (which are slightly drier). it didn't make me breakout though, so i am still using it sometimes during the day.

but i realised one very important thing though. after switching to this range for nearly 2 weeks, and then switching back to my usual kanebo blanchir clear conditioner + night gel-cream, i realised that it seemed to re-gain its "power" and perform better than it did previously. :)

eyeshadow loots from JL

yesterday i couldn't resist walking into John Little (orchard road) when i saw the "20%"A4 poster from outside. as a matter of fact, i didn't have anything in mind to buy but then, i was very attracted to the poster that read "20% off on all cosmetics". :P

in the end, i bought these 2 babies... both are eyeshadow palettes..

the color workshop - ideal eyes set 3
the color workshop palette is from UK (if i'm not wrong) but is made in china and cost only $2.90 ($2.32 after discount) and consist of 5 very wearable colors, 1 sponge applicator and a compact mirror. the sponge applicator is rather -_-".. but i don't really expect much as its retail price is only $2.90. but i do hope that the eyeshadows will give me at least a medium pigmentation.

la pensee multi eye shadow 04

la pensee palette is a japanese brand but is also made in china cost $9.90 ($7.92 after discount), has 5 colors too and comes with a dual ended applicator that has a sponge on one end and a brush on the other. the applicator looks like crap to me.. :x i do hope that pigmentation of the eyeshaows don't disappoint.

mini haul

my mini haul arrived on thursday! ^-^ only 3 eyeshadows and 1 lipstick.. very mini indeed!

1. Kanebo Media Select Color Shadow A BR-3
2. Kanebo Media Select Color Shadow A GN-1
3. Kanebo Media Select Color Shadow A WN-1
4. Kanebo Lavshuca Essence Rouge Bar PK-4
my fave of the lot is BR-3, the colour combination is very pretty and is quite suited for both day and night use. i predict it will be using it quite often in the near future. :D
i tried this palette yesterday and i think i applied it too lightly so the colours didn't really showed. i'll try applying it again later and build the colours up. :P

hello kitty~

hello kitty purse.. cost only $9! looks abit like LV right?! haha.. i actually bought this for my mum but she says its too small for her, so i am planning to use this as my lunch time wallet.

this little purse is roughly about 12 cm x 7 cm x 3 cm(its not exactly that small actually), and has 2 zippers. 1 compartment for my handphone, the other to put my notes and coins. ^-^

the inner lining also has hello kitty prints!

and a matching hello kitty "LV" bag! well actually, i bought the purse as it matches the bag.. haha~~

even though, the shape is not what i like, but when i spotted this bag, i thought that i must have it! <3>

i told my bf that if this bag cost below $30, i will buy it! in the end guess how much it cost me?? nope, its not $80, not $70, not $60, nope not $40 either. it just cost me $20~!!! ^-^ woohoo~ and then i thought again.. if my mum saw this, she will sure like it too, so i thought, why not buy 1 for her since its only $20.. but alas! there's only 1 bag left... too bad for her.. :P (no way am i letting her have this bag! its mine!!)

hey! i'm not a bad daughter ok?! i bought the big purse to compensate, but she finds it too small.. but anyways, i left my contact number with the owner and asked her to call me if there's anymore hello kitty bags.

ampoule

when i went for my monthly facial last weekend, my beautician told me on the sly that i can buy ampoules at much cheaper price as compared to what the salon charges me.

so on her recommendation, i bought 2 types of ampoules, 1 for hydrating (collagen), the other for my pimples (anti-acne complex).

as i had mentioned in my earlier post(s), i had a bad break-out last month, and thankfully, its recovering, the pimples have flatten and what's left are the unsightly red marks which will require some time to fade.

i used 1 vital of the anti-acne complex yesterday and its pretty good (so far), my skin looks cleaner and there are no adverse reactions. i suppose i should get the whitening ampoule on my next visit to help fade my scars! i'm also thinking of getting the ampoule for open pores...

hmmm.. have to save money... i also spotted the big paddle hair brush that i want for ages.. and the soft masks..... >_<

how to use ampoule

method 1

  1. cleanse face
  2. scrub face (optional)
  3. apply ampoule
  4. apply face mask

method 2

  1. cleanse face
  2. apply ampoule
  3. apply moisturiser
what i did yesterday was method 1, the same method that was used on me during facials. the beautian told me to apply more of the ampoule on the troubled areas.

collective haul #1

yesss!! i bought things again..~~ ^-^ i love shopping!! yesterday was a great day for me, my friend/colleague came down to the office to pass me clothes from the yahoo auction that i bought some weeks back, i had very nice (and free) sandwiches and i met up with bf for dinner and i managed to buy some great stuffs~! enough of my ramblings, here's the pics~!

first up, NYX eyeshadow singles and lipstick.

(clockwise left to right: ES 154 Volcano, ES 90 Sombra Ombre, BL 52 Peach Love)

this is the first time i bought NYX stuffs, i have tried them, and they are pretty decent. nice color payoff but i don't really like the smell of the lipstick, it has the cheap and artificial smell to it. but when applied to the lips, the smell is negligible. I bought them from Guardian Vivo City when they were on 20% discount. The eye shadow cost me $9.90 each and the lipstick was $13.90. frankly speaking, though they are rather affordable, I don’t think I’ll get them again because, i prefer makeup Japanese brands. :x i’m bias.

i also bought some skincare from Organic Surge. prior to buying, i have never heard of this brand and apparently, they are from the UK. and as to how organic are they? i have absolutely no idea!

for skincare, there is only 1 range called the "Pure Extracts", which is for all skin types. of the 5 items i saw on the shelves, i bought 2, the refreshing toner ($18.90) and the blissful moisturiser ($23.90).

the smell of the skincare range is great!! it is the spa-ish smell that i favour!! nice and relaxing. both products goes on light, absorbs fast and non-greasy. the moisturiser is those gel-cream type which is just ok for my combination skin, but (in my humble opinion), it might be a tad greasy for oily skin and not rich enough for dry skin.

i tried them yesterday night and luckily (touch wood), there are no adverse reactions as yet, and my skin feels smooth, soft and hydrated. i'll need to try for at least one more week before reaching a more conclusive conclusion!! hopefully, no breakouts and only nice, clear, soft, bouncy skin!! *cross fingers*

think i might want to try the face scrub and mask too.... there's also the bath & body and hand & body range... mmmm... www.organicsurge.com

next up, my HG pimple buster. i have to thank it for helping "deflate" my pimples after having a bad breakout last month, which became worst after inadequate sleep and imbalance diet (due to my grandpa's 5 days funeral wake).

Thursday Plantation Tea Tree Oil, my saviour. :x i took the plunge and bought the 50ml bottle for $31.55. x_x expensive for a bottle of oil... previously, i bought the 10ml bottle ($10.80) and after doing my maths, a dummy would realise the 50ml bottle would be more cost worth it, especially with my heavy usage, i so went ahead and bought it. hopefully, it can last me till the end of this year.

both the Organic Surge and tea tree oil were bought from Guardian Vivo City, but i suppose they will be available at other Guardian outlets too.

some freebie that i got~

2 days supply of Clinique 3-step skin care sample kit!

the sample kit i have got is for oily skin. they came in a nice sturdy paper box and the skin care samples are nicely presented in a card. 1 button for each use, no more estimation of how much product to use each time, just use all that is available in that button. fuss-free and hygienic. i like~!

Step 1: Liquid Facial Soap

Step 2: Clarifying Moisture Lotion 3

Step 3: Dramatically Different Moisturizing Gel

that's all~~
