Weekly Photo Challege - All Star Makeup Edition

It's Friday yesterday, so Yumeko from Bitten Before posted another entry of the Weekly Photo Challenge. This week's challenge is " All Star Makeup Edition".

1) The Super Star. Something I have used for more than one year and will still be using.

Clockwise:
- Shu Uemura UV Under Base BB Mousse & Sheer Refining Mousse Foundation
My favourite foundation combi. It is long lasting and has decent coverage.
- Coffret D'or Shine Drap Eyes in 01
This remains my favourite eyeshadow palette even after so many years.
- RMK Control Color N 01 Silver
One of my favourite highlighters, it gives the skin a luminous and natural glow. I only use it on the bridge of my nose and on the cheekbones.
- Canmake Cream Cheeks 13 Love Peach
It is very creamy and is very easy to blend.
- Lunasol Full Glamour Gloss 06 Beige Red
This is a surprise gift from my BF. This has already been discontinued.. :(

2) The Fast Rising Star. Something I have used for over 6 months and will still be using.

From clockwise:
- NARS Modern Love Palette 9960
this NARS palette. The colours very pretty and very versatile. The only colour I don't fancy is the top middle shade, which is too red for me to wear on the lids.
- Esprique Blend Dimensional Eyes Deep B-4
The shadows are very pigmented and smooth.
- NARS The Multiple
Another favourite highlighter. I also use it on lids after primer to help the eye shadows appear more pigmeneted.
- Clio Professional Eye Love You Glow Beige No. 21
My to go eyeliner pencil to use on the inner corners of my eyes.
- Forever 21 Love & Beauty Illuminating Cheek Color Rose
A very flattering pinky peach (more pink than peach).

3) The Number 1 Draft Pick. Something I started using and am loving it.

Clockwise:
- Burberry Beauty Light Glow Blossom Blush No. 05
My current favourite to go blush .
I did a post on the Burberry items I own here
- NARS Essential Eye Palette 9952
Another of eye palette from NARS that I . The shades in this palette is very easy to wear. Very suitable for OLs. I love my NARS 6 pan eyeshadows.
- Jill Stuart Jelly Eye Color N 03 Platinum Satin
Imparts a very pretty sparkle to the eyelids. I always apply it under my eye shadows to give the eyes an extra oomph.
- Burberry Beauty Sheer Eye Shadow Trench No. 02
My current favourite highllighter for under the brow bone.

4) The Fail. Something I have tried recently and does not work for me.

I pretty much like everything I have tried recently, but I dug through my drawers and found some items that I have tried before and did not like.

Clockwise:
- Majolica Mojorca Blood On
Makes my already flushed cheeks more ruddy than ever. Not pretty...

- Tiffa Gradation Eyeliner DB&BR
Smudges like crazy!! It does not even last an hour on my upper lash line.
- Etude House Color My Brows #01 Rich Brown
Just not the color for me.

5) The Experiment. Something I have bought and am going to try next.

Hmmm... the most recently items I have bought are the Burberry stuff which I have already used and I have not planned on what to use next from my stash of makeup.. So there's nothing for me to write about under this...

Here is Yumeko's entry.

Thanks for reading! Bye~~!

Little Stash of Burberry

Most of the time, I will keep my brand new make up for at least half a year before I put my grimy paws on them. Well, except for foundations, which I tend to use as soon as I buy them, but that's another thing altogether.

I have this weird first-in-first-out ruling that I stick to staunchly. Very rarely will I break this rule to try out my brand new purchases. But recently, I broke this rule for Burberry Beauty.

I own three of the Sheer Eye Shadows in shades Trench No.02, Rosewood No. 09 and Midnight Plum No. 19. The eye shadows cost $46 each.

Each eye shadow has its own velvet pouch, mirror and a sponge tipped applicator.

Light Glow in Blossom Blush No.05, $61.

It also comes with a velvet pouch, mirror and a small slated blush brush.

The velvet pouches, the packaging, the surface of powders all have the signature Burberry check pattern. The compacts are rather heavy and both the eye shadow and blush comes with a magnetic closure. One minor complain about the packaging, is that it can only open until 90 degrees.

Lip Mist in Nude Peach No. 212, $43.

The tube of lipstick is also held shut by magnet. I have not tried this yet.

I also have two mini Lip Mists, both are Copper No.202. I received them as GWPs for my purchases.

♥ ♥ ♥ this shade to death! It is such a pretty color on my lips! It swatches a rust-peachy nude and looks fantastic on my lips. It's a my lips but better/healthy shade.

Unlike the full sized Lip Mist, the minis do not have the magnetic closure.

They are not the most expensive single make up item I have spent on, but I have never spent so much on a single blush or mono eye shadow.

But if you ask me, do I regret buying them? Hmmm... I can't decide. It is not that they are not worth the money. They are most definitely worth the hefty price tag, but it is more of how often I will use them.

Light Glow in Blossom  is a peachy-coral pink which looks very flattering on my cheeks. I love how it adds a very nice warmth and color to my cheeks. It is currently my favourite to go blush. The only grouse I have about this blush is the scent, which is too heavy for my liking. But luckily, the scent does not linger.

Trench Sheer Eye Shadow is a very multi-functional shade. I love to use it on my brow bone, the inner corners of my eyes, on my nose bridge and the tops of my cheeks as subtle highlighting. Very daytime/ OL appropriate. I find myself reaching for this eye shadow everyday since I bought it on 6 Jul 2012. This is my favourite of all the Burberry items I have bought.

Midnight Plum is such a beautiful shade, but I just don't see myself fully utilising it. Since I tend to wear  conservative shades like beige, browns to work. Midnight Plum is a little on the sheer side and best used with a coloured base beneath. I don't own many purple/plum shades in my stash, so I am happy to add this little treasure in.

As for Rosewood... As much as it is a very beautiful shade, I don't like how the color looks on me... It's just too plain, too dull looking... I am still trying to find ways to make it work for me.. But so far, my efforts are fruitless..

I shall finish off this post with the swatches..

Taiwan Haul 2012 - Part 2 Makeup

Yikes! I am lagging behind in my posts again!! I re-took most of the pictures again, as I wasn't pleased with how the photos turned out from the first shoot. And that's why some of the background is different from the others.

To me, Taipei is truly a makeup haven! From the counters, I can get NARS, Jill Stuart, Shu Uemura, Sofina, etc. And from the drugstores, I can get Lavshuca, KATE, Majolica, 1028, Nature & Co, Intergrate, etc. It was a good thing I did some research before my trip! Otherwise, I am quite sure that I will be overwhelmed and come home with lots of impulse buys!

Be forwarned that this will be a long and picture heavy post.

I shall start with the items I bought from the counters and duty free before moving on the the drugstore purchases.

NARS

I got quite a few things from NARS...
Makeup Your Mind II Express Yourself Eyes Set

This set comes with a six pan eye shadow palette, the Eye Makeup Remover, a Larger Than Life Volumizing Mascara and the Smudge Proof Eye Shadow Base.

Top left to right: Abyssinia, Silk Road II and Strada
Bottom left to right: Galapagos, Fuji, Brumes II

Also, I also got some other things from NARS too...

Blush in Liberte 4035

Highlighting Blush Powder Albatross 5131

From left: The Mulitple Lamu 1519 and Lipstick Dolce Vita 1028

I have hit pan on my Dolce Vita lipstick from my NARS 15th Anniversary Palette 9954, so I bought a new tube as a backup.

I wanted to get another South Beach multiple since I am going to hit pan on my 15th Anniversary Palette South Beach soon, but the NARS MUA talked me into getting Lamu instead.

Lancome

Bought a lip palette from the duty free in Taoyuan International Airport..

This is the L'Absolu Lip Travel Lip Palette. It contains five lip colours from the L'Absolu Rouge collection and a gloss.

YSL

From Changi Airport, I saw this YSL set which comes with quite a few things. But mainly I wanted to try the Touche Eclat.

From left: Luxurious Mascara Volume Effet Faux Cils
in No. 1,Touche Eclat in No. 2, Long-lasting Waterproof Eye Pencil in
No.1, Youth Liberator Eye Cream and Eye Make-up Remover Bi-phase

Jill Stuart

From their Playful Summer 2012 collection, I got the Jewel Crystal Eye in 09 Mandarin Citrine (my first eye shadow palette from JS!) and a Mix Blush Compact in 15 Strolling Bee.

Mix Blush Compact in 15 Strolling Bee

Aube Couture

Purchased the Designing Impression Eyes in 558 and Designing Puffy Cheeks in 414.

Shu Uemura

Nothing fancy from Shu Uemura.. Got a customised eye shadow quad, stocked up on my favourite Mousse Foundation in Medium Light Beige, a couple of brow pencils and a pair of fake lashes.

From left: ME 166, IR 795, ME 270 and ME 856

Chic Choc

甜心雙效修容 in RS01

Nail polishes in PU04 and PU06

Lavshuca

Got a bunch of Lavshuca stuff to play with!! I Lavshuca! Too bad it isn't available locally!

The packaging is always soooo cute~~!

Little Start Glow Rouge in BE-1

My favourite drugstore lipsticks.. The Moist Melting Rouge.. I bought three of them.. More about their lippies here.

These Moist Melting Rouges are very soft and moist and very feels very comfortable on the lips. I'm happy to add these three babies in my collection.

More mascara and eyeliner...

1028

Bought two palettes from 1028, a brand by 小凱老師 from Taiwan. Chanced upon them when I was shopping at Watsons.. I was soo happy when I saw them as I thought 1028 was only sold online.

Each of these two palettes came with a free lip gloss and I got the mini eye make up remover as GWP from a drugstore.

From top: Juicy Lip Shine in Sweet Pink and Juicy Peach
More info here.

The Classic Make Up Kit

Nature & Co

Cotton Veil Mineral Foundation SPF25 PA++ in shade 410

I did not buy a lot of base makeup, only this Nature Co powder foundation which I have read good reviews from a Taiwanese beauty magazine and my favourite Shu Uemura mousse foundation.

I simply adore the cute packaging, so cute yet simple! There was a Nature & Co logo embossed on the powder which disappeared after a few uses.

This powder foundation is available in four shades, 205, 405, 410 and 415.  The case is sold separately from the refill, the refill comes with a sponge. There is no separate compartment to store the sponge, the sponge lay on top of the powder, separated by a  thin plastic sheet. More info about the product here.

I do not use this as a powder foundation, but rather, as a setting powder with a large powder brush. The powder is very fine and is a good match for my skin tone.

KATE

I did not get a lot of KATE stuff since they are available locally as well.. But I still bought some things since they are cheaper in Taiwan and there were discount/promos going on.

From KATE, I got the Art Dial Mascara, Designing Eye Brows and also got the new Real Create Eyes in BR-2. I also stocked up on the gel eyeliners in BK-1 and BK-2 and also bought a eyeliner brush.

For me, the highlight from these KATE products is the Art Dial Mascara. Instead of a traditional mascara pull-out tube, it comes as a dial tube. You have to twist the bottom of the tube to get the mascara out. So cool! I can't wait to try it!!

Cezanne

From left:  03 Rose, 04 Red and 05 Coral

Three very pretty juicy lip glosses.. They have no shimmer or glitters, just the way I like.. I swatched them at the drugstore and can't decide which one I liked better, so I bought all three of them.. :)

Intergrate

Nothing much from this brand either... Just got a eyeliner, a couple of eyebrow pencils and lip pencils..

Canmake

A bottle of sliver glitters nail polish and a cream blush..

From left: Jewel Glitter Nail in #01 Sliver Foil
and Cream Cheek in #13 Love peach

Maybelline

I have been lemming for this The Falsies Volumn' Express for some time already. And since it came bundled with a couple of freebies, I decided to get it. The freebies are a lip gel from Dr. Morita and a mini Bioderma Sebum Cleansing Gel.

Diaso

False Lashes from random brands

Generally, I really really enjoying buying makeup (frankly, I really really enjoying buying almost every other thing... Ha!). However, as you can see from the above pictures, I hauled quite a lot of eye make up as compared to other make up items.

Thanks for reading! Bye~

If you want to find out what skincare items I bought from this trip, you can find it here.
