Benefit Haul

I finally received my box of Benefit goodies in the mail yesterday! You probably have no idea how much I have been longing for Mr Postman to come knocking on my door. :)

The pretties are all bundled up this printed tissue paper.

So, just what did I order?

There is the Rockateur (USD 28), Stay Flawless (USD 32) and a Custom Makeup Kit (USD79).

I have been seriously lemming for the Stay Flawless primer, ever since the Taiwanese makeup guru recommended in on a beauty show... But after waiting for months for it to reach the shores of Singapore, I gave up on the wait and just ordered it online. (I spotted it recently at my local Sephora, but too bad, I have already ordered it via the Benefit website).

Isnt't the packaging cute! the polka dots on the cap!

Here's the ingredients for Stay Flawless.

 And this baby, Rockateur...

When I first spotted it on the Benefit website, I was in love.. No words to describe how beautiful it looks in the pan! I can't wait to try it soon!!

The ingredients for Rockateur.

Currently, on the Benefit website, you can customise one makeup kit for $79. This kit will include an item for complexion, cheeks, eyes, a free gift and a cute pink makeup bag.

From each category, you can only pick one item. For complexion, there are foundations and primers. For cheeks, there are the lip & cheek tints, highlighters, powder blushes, bronzer. For eyes, there are mascaras, concealers, brow pencil, eyeliners. And for free gift, there are lippies, powder/cream eye shadows.

So, what did I chose?

There is the new Creaseless Cream Shadow in RSVP, Hervana, Fakeup in 02 medium and the POREfessional.

I had a hard time choosing an item from the complexion category as there is nothing that I want from the listed items. So, I just went with the POREfessional, an item that I already own and liked.

For eyes, I selected the Fakeup concealer. This has also been on my Wish List for quite some time already, so I just went ahead with it.

For cheeks, I picked Hervana. I had been interested when it was first launched, but it just got pushed further and further down my Wish List until it was eventually forgotten. So, I just went ahead and chose it.

For the free gift, I chose the Creaseless Cream Shadow. I have tried the older Creaseless Cream Shadows and I really enjoyed using them, so hopefully, I will like the new ones too!

That's all I have from my Benefit haul! I will be on a makeup ban from now until mid November. So no more makeup hauling (except for essentials)!!

Thanks for reading! Bye!!!!

Beauty Haul - More Burberry!

Once again, I craved in to my inner beautyaholic whims and indulged in some beauty hauling from Burberry. I bought these earlier in July, shove them one side and forgot that I have not written on them yet!

Initially I merely wanted to sneak a peak at the Burberry summer collection as I actually had my eyes on the NARS Morden Menage et Trois of Color palette. However, the Burberry items caught my eyes instead.

From the summer collection, I bought the Fresh Glow Luminous Highlighting Powder in Nude Radiance No. 01. I have been lemming for a new high end powder highlighter for some time already and when I came across this product on an advertisement in the newspapers.

This powder comes in the the usual magnetic Burberry compact and velvet pouch and it also comes with a flat skinny brush.

I have not tried it on my face yet, but I have swatched it at the back of my hands and I really liked it. Like its name, it imparts a luminous glow and there are not visible shimmers.

I also got another of the Light Glow, in Hydrangea Pink No. 10. I was talked into getting this by the SA. Hydrangea Pink is a bright bright pink that I would have never splurge on from a high end brand (I prefer to buy 'safe' colours from high end brands just in case I didn't like it). However, Hydrangea Pink is also the name of the flowers I bought for my wedding photoshoot..... So, yes, I bought this blush because of its name...

The packaging is the same as the other Light Glows, it comes with the usual magnetic Burberry compact, velvet pouch and a small angled blush brush. It contains 7g of product and is made in Italy.

Lastly, I also bought the Effortless Mascara in Midnight Black No. 01. It contains  4.5 ml of product and is made in Italy.

I don't know what went into me that day and I bought this frightfully expensive mascara, which cost $40ish. I know this is about the price range of other high end mascaras, but mascara is one beauty item that I almost never splurge on, because I love my trusty (and relatively inexpensive) Japanese drugstore ones (eg. KATE, Lavshuca, Kiss Me, etc). But the SA convinced me to get it.

This mascara apparently contains marine plant glycogen that accelerates fiber growth and strengthens the lashes. Since I crimp and apply mascara on my lashes almost everyday, I thought they sure deserves some TLC.

I have already tried it twice, and I hate to say it makes my painstakingly curled lashes drooped (*horror*)!!!!!!! I think I shall wait another week or so, to let the formula dry out a little before my next try.

For all that I have spent at the Burberry counter, I can receive a full sized lip stick. As the selection is quite limited, and since I only have one red lipstick in my entire collection, I chose the Lip Cover in Union Red No.17.

Thanks for reading! Bye!

July 2013 Favourites

Here are my favourites for the month of July ♥ ♥

Phyto Age-defying Serum

After using this scalp serum for a couple of months, I can feel my hair becoming thicker and I have seen new baby hair growing at the corner of my forehead. I also think that my hair fall is lesser and seems to break lesser.

Benefit Porefessional

This helps to hides my pores and create a smooth canvas for my foundation to glide on. This works very well together with the Chanel Vita Lumeire Aqua.

Chanel Vita Lumeire Aqua

Ever since I have bought my bottle of Vita Lumeire Aqua, it has became my exclusive foundation every morning (totally ousting my previous love, the Burberry Velvet Foundation). It is very light weight, easy to apply, controls my oils but not drying. _

Missha Sheer Fluid Blusher in No.3 Sugar Apricot and NARS Sex Appeal

My new favourite cheeks combi for this month! On my skin, its a very natural flush. I apply the fluid blusher with fingers (1 pump for both cheeks) after foundation and concealer then pat on the NARS' blush on top and finish off with pressed powder.

Naruko Tea Tree Oil Out Toner, Balancing Moisturiser, Balancing Serum and Night Gelly

My skin has been misbehaving out of the blue in the mid of July. Overnight, my chin and  my cheeks started to breakout really badly and worsen as the days went by. It really bothered me as my skin was getting so much better before this episode, so I switched out all of my night time products and started using the Naruko Tea Tree Oil Cut range.

The combination of these products are my lifesaver or rather, skin saver. Now, the blemishes started to become smaller and less painful. The worst seemed to be over but my skin is still in a mess. >_<  With my wedding less than 3 months away, I truly hope it will all get better sooner!

The products I am still loving from the previous months are the NARS Larger Than Life Volumizing Mascara and First Aid Beauty Ultra Repair Lip Therapy.

I have tried out a bunch of new stuff but even though they are good, they don't fall into my _♥ category.

Thanks for reading! Till the next time!! Bye~~~!

Weekly Photo Challege - Summer Must-Haves

Yumeko has posted another series of her Weekly Photo Challenge. This week's theme is the Summer Must-Haves.

Well, since it is summer all year long in Singapore, but I have to admit that the June to September period is pretty much warmer than other months.

Some of the items mentioned below (eg. sunblocks) is pretty much what I use 365 days a year.

Let's get started!

1. Base Makeup – [sunscreen, powder, foundation, bb cream, whatever I use in the heat/humidity of summer]

From left:
- Sofina Beaute Day Protector SPF 50 PA+++ (Fresh)
I bought this when I was in Hong Kong last year. The product is lightweight and spreads easily on the skin. It is not my favourite (my favourite is still the IPSA Super Sun Block SPF 50 PA+++), but it is not the worst either.
- Clarins Wrinkle Control Eye Suncreen
I use a different sunblock on the contour of my eyes, as I find that the normal face sunblock tends to dry out my eye area.
- Garnier Instant Fairness BB Eye Roll-On
My dark eye circles are not that serious these days, so I skipped my usual cream concealers over for this BB roll-on instead. It provides a light coverage and also serves as a brightener.
- Laura Mercier Tinted Moisturizer SPF 20 Oil Free and Foundation Primer Oil Free
I have switched to using these two Laura Mercier base makeup instead of my usual liquid/mousse foundations since the beginning of April 2012. The products feel light on the skin and it also last the whole day on my combination skin.

2. Point Makeup [blush, eyeshadow, whatever I use in the heat/humidity of summer]

From top:
- NYX Cream Rouge, Nars The Multiple and Canmake Cream Cheeks
Love, love, love my cream blushers! I don't think I can ever live without them.
- Diaso Eye Brow Coat
With just a light coat, it helps my eyebrows to last the entire day.
- Diorshow Iconic Extreme and KATE Volume Mascara
Fantastic waterproof mascaras.
- Diaso Eyeliner Coat
One of my HG makeup item! I apply it on both upper and lower eyeliner to set the pencil/gel eyeliner. It is the best and not to mention cheap! I have been rationing my usage of this item since I can't find it at any of the Diaso I have been too! >_<

3. Sunglasses/Hat/Anything I am wearing to block out the sun’s harmful rays

From left:
- Biore UV Aqua Rich SPF 30 PA+++ and Allie SPF 26 PA+
I am currently rotating between these 2 sunblocks for body. I have previously done a review on the Biore sunblock.
- Pure UV-Cut Hyaluronic Acid SPF 15
I can't remember how long I have used this lip balm already. My lips feel nice and moist after application.

4. Deodorant/Body Spray/Perfume [whatever I am using to make yourself smell good]

From  top:
- DKNY Be Declious Parfum
I took of the cap for the photo as my reflection was on the cap. This is a birthday gift from my girl pal and she really chose well. Just wonder how she knows that I like this scent too. :D
- Kenzoki Shh De Lotus Relaxant
This is another of my favourite scent from Kenzo (the other being FlowerbyKenzo ♥). I only use this when before going to sleep, I think it really helps in relaxing my mind and let me have a good night rest.

5. Other must-haves for Summer

From right:
- Little Twin Star x Sophie Monk Body Lotion 氣潤滑身體乳 (Aroma Silky Body Lotion)
A light body lotion is a must! Currently I am using this. This body lotion is very watery so it absorbs really quickly and does not leave a sticky feeling. But I do find the scent too strong and cloying.
- Soap &Glory Sit Tight
By right, this shouldn't be here, since I have only just started using it recently.

Here is Yumeko's post. Here is the link to her other Weekly Challenges.Do check them out as they are very interesting! :)

Weekly Photo Challege - All Star Makeup Edition

It's Friday yesterday, so Yumeko from Bitten Before posted another entry of the Weekly Photo Challenge. This week's challenge is " All Star Makeup Edition".

1) The Super Star. Something I have used for more than one year and will still be using.

Clockwise:
- Shu Uemura UV Under Base BB Mousse & Sheer Refining Mousse Foundation
My favourite foundation combi. It is long lasting and has decent coverage.
- Coffret D'or Shine Drap Eyes in 01
This remains my favourite eyeshadow palette even after so many years.
- RMK Control Color N 01 Silver
One of my favourite highlighters, it gives the skin a luminous and natural glow. I only use it on the bridge of my nose and on the cheekbones.
- Canmake Cream Cheeks 13 Love Peach
It is very creamy and is very easy to blend.
- Lunasol Full Glamour Gloss 06 Beige Red
This is a surprise gift from my BF. This has already been discontinued.. :(

2) The Fast Rising Star. Something I have used for over 6 months and will still be using.

From clockwise:
- NARS Modern Love Palette 9960
this NARS palette. The colours very pretty and very versatile. The only colour I don't fancy is the top middle shade, which is too red for me to wear on the lids.
- Esprique Blend Dimensional Eyes Deep B-4
The shadows are very pigmented and smooth.
- NARS The Multiple
Another favourite highlighter. I also use it on lids after primer to help the eye shadows appear more pigmeneted.
- Clio Professional Eye Love You Glow Beige No. 21
My to go eyeliner pencil to use on the inner corners of my eyes.
- Forever 21 Love & Beauty Illuminating Cheek Color Rose
A very flattering pinky peach (more pink than peach).

3) The Number 1 Draft Pick. Something I started using and am loving it.

Clockwise:
- Burberry Beauty Light Glow Blossom Blush No. 05
My current favourite to go blush .
I did a post on the Burberry items I own here
- NARS Essential Eye Palette 9952
Another of eye palette from NARS that I . The shades in this palette is very easy to wear. Very suitable for OLs. I love my NARS 6 pan eyeshadows.
- Jill Stuart Jelly Eye Color N 03 Platinum Satin
Imparts a very pretty sparkle to the eyelids. I always apply it under my eye shadows to give the eyes an extra oomph.
- Burberry Beauty Sheer Eye Shadow Trench No. 02
My current favourite highllighter for under the brow bone.

4) The Fail. Something I have tried recently and does not work for me.

I pretty much like everything I have tried recently, but I dug through my drawers and found some items that I have tried before and did not like.

Clockwise:
- Majolica Mojorca Blood On
Makes my already flushed cheeks more ruddy than ever. Not pretty...

- Tiffa Gradation Eyeliner DB&BR
Smudges like crazy!! It does not even last an hour on my upper lash line.
- Etude House Color My Brows #01 Rich Brown
Just not the color for me.

5) The Experiment. Something I have bought and am going to try next.

Hmmm... the most recently items I have bought are the Burberry stuff which I have already used and I have not planned on what to use next from my stash of makeup.. So there's nothing for me to write about under this...

Here is Yumeko's entry.

Thanks for reading! Bye~~!

Little Stash of Burberry

Most of the time, I will keep my brand new make up for at least half a year before I put my grimy paws on them. Well, except for foundations, which I tend to use as soon as I buy them, but that's another thing altogether.

I have this weird first-in-first-out ruling that I stick to staunchly. Very rarely will I break this rule to try out my brand new purchases. But recently, I broke this rule for Burberry Beauty.

I own three of the Sheer Eye Shadows in shades Trench No.02, Rosewood No. 09 and Midnight Plum No. 19. The eye shadows cost $46 each.

Each eye shadow has its own velvet pouch, mirror and a sponge tipped applicator.

Light Glow in Blossom Blush No.05, $61.

It also comes with a velvet pouch, mirror and a small slated blush brush.

The velvet pouches, the packaging, the surface of powders all have the signature Burberry check pattern. The compacts are rather heavy and both the eye shadow and blush comes with a magnetic closure. One minor complain about the packaging, is that it can only open until 90 degrees.

Lip Mist in Nude Peach No. 212, $43.

The tube of lipstick is also held shut by magnet. I have not tried this yet.

I also have two mini Lip Mists, both are Copper No.202. I received them as GWPs for my purchases.

♥ ♥ ♥ this shade to death! It is such a pretty color on my lips! It swatches a rust-peachy nude and looks fantastic on my lips. It's a my lips but better/healthy shade.

Unlike the full sized Lip Mist, the minis do not have the magnetic closure.

They are not the most expensive single make up item I have spent on, but I have never spent so much on a single blush or mono eye shadow.

But if you ask me, do I regret buying them? Hmmm... I can't decide. It is not that they are not worth the money. They are most definitely worth the hefty price tag, but it is more of how often I will use them.

Light Glow in Blossom  is a peachy-coral pink which looks very flattering on my cheeks. I love how it adds a very nice warmth and color to my cheeks. It is currently my favourite to go blush. The only grouse I have about this blush is the scent, which is too heavy for my liking. But luckily, the scent does not linger.

Trench Sheer Eye Shadow is a very multi-functional shade. I love to use it on my brow bone, the inner corners of my eyes, on my nose bridge and the tops of my cheeks as subtle highlighting. Very daytime/ OL appropriate. I find myself reaching for this eye shadow everyday since I bought it on 6 Jul 2012. This is my favourite of all the Burberry items I have bought.

Midnight Plum is such a beautiful shade, but I just don't see myself fully utilising it. Since I tend to wear  conservative shades like beige, browns to work. Midnight Plum is a little on the sheer side and best used with a coloured base beneath. I don't own many purple/plum shades in my stash, so I am happy to add this little treasure in.

As for Rosewood... As much as it is a very beautiful shade, I don't like how the color looks on me... It's just too plain, too dull looking... I am still trying to find ways to make it work for me.. But so far, my efforts are fruitless..

I shall finish off this post with the swatches..

Eye Shadows, Trench, Rosewood, Midnight
Plum and Light Glow Blossom.
