Brown Eyeliners

I go through phases with my makeup, I used to only use black eyeliners, be it gel or pencil (I never use liquid), it was always black. But as I evolved, I now only use brown eyeliners on a daily basis, saving black for special days like wedding dinners, company dinners, etc. when I want to my makeup to be different from my usual.

Here's a post dedicated to my favourite brown eyeliners. There are three of them and they are listed from the darkest to the lightest shade of brown.

Integrate High Impact Gel Eyeliner BR610
Pros
  • smooth and easy to draw
  • easily blended before it set
  • does not smudge once set
  • pigmented
  • can be used to draw either thick or thin lines easily
  • nice packaging
Cons
  • tend to disappear on my lower lash line
  • not available locally

Etude House Play 101 Pencil in #50
Pros
  • inexpensive
  • does not smudge or move once set
  • lasts on my lower lids
  • pigmented
  • can be used to draw either thick or thin lines easily
Cons
  • formula is on the drier side, so tend to tug on lash line
  • harder than the other 2 to blend even before setting
Visee Color Impact Gel Liner BR301
Pros
  • pigmented
  • smooth and easy to draw
  • easily blended before it set
  • does not smudge or move once set
Cons
  • the lead is the skinniest of the three so,
    • it tends to break easily
    • needs to draw more times if I want a thicker line
  • not available locally

November 2013 Favourites .

I haven't been writing about monthly favourites for the past months as there wasn't any new things that wowed me off my feet. Sure there were a few new things that I liked but they weren't in that "I-will-die-if-I-can't-have-you" place.

However, in November, I have discovered a few new things to call my favourites. So let's get started!

Daiso fuzzy socks
They kept my feet warm at night in the freezing (at least for me) Japan. These are so nice and soft, best of all, they cost only $2!

Marks & Spencer Pomegranate Shower Gel
This smells so good! I like that the scent is not too overpowering, not too in your face. This lathers up well and is easy to wash off. And it doesn't leave a soapy after feel. I find that there are some shower gels that leaves a flim behind or something... like you have not washed all the suds off... This one doesn't.

Clarins Extra-Firming Lip & Contour Balm
My new favourite lip balm! My savior for dry lips! Due to the cold winds in Japan and lack of reapplying a lip balm often during the day, my lips almost cracked at one point, I applied a layer of this and the next morning my lips were back to normal.

Benefit Juicy Coral Lip Shine
I got this as part of a kit called The New Annie Collection which I bought last year. It is pigmented, smells and taste good. It feels comfortable on the lips, not too sticky and does not emphasis lip lines.

Clarins Skin Beauty Concentrate
This is a rediscovery of an old favourite. It helps to calm my skin down, soothing it. My skin was somewhat irritated around the eye and upper cheeks and this really helped to bring my skin back to normal. Although it is an oil, it absorbs quickly without any sticky or oily feel. A little goes a long way, I use just one pump, warm it between my palms and press it into my skin after toning, then finish off with a light moisturiser,

Bath and Body Works Lavender Chamomile Body Wash & Foam Bath
This smells so very wonderful, so soothing and sleep inducing. As a foam bath, it produces decent amount of bubbles to cover the top of the bath, but the bubbles are not as luxe and dense like LUSH's.. A good choice for after a long, tiring day.

Furterer Carthame Gentle Hydro-Nutritive Mask
It leaves my hair feeling super super soft, silky and shiny!! The best thing is I did not have to leave it on for a long time to see the effect! I am going to get the full sized once I have finished my other hair masks!

Thanks for reading! Bye!!

August 2013 Favourites

August really flew past very fast and now its already the mid of September! I am really late in posting my favourites for last month!!

So here's the items that made it to my list for August.

Vichy Normaderm Night

My only new skincare favourite for August. This really helped to clear up the last bit of my breakouts. After using the Naruko Tea Tree range for about a month, I realised that my skin seemed to have gotten used to the products and has also became dehydrated, so I switched back to my previous toner and serums and used this night moisturiser which is suitable for sensitive, acne skin in need of hydration.

I really like this moisturiser as the texture is very light and it gets absorbs into the skin fast and do not leave behind any sticky residue.

Laneige  BB Cushion (Whitening)

I resisted for the longest time and finally succumbed to getting the Laneige BB Cushion. And I am so glad that I bought it.

Using this really helps to speed up my foundation routine, application wise, its like powder foundation but in liquid form. It gives a light coverage so concealer is still a must to cover up my spots. However, I can usually skip under eye concealer as this product really does a good job in brightening my under eye.

Clarins Instant Light

This was a gift from a friend. It comes with a pump and it is very easy to control the amount dispensed. I really like the subtle glow it imparts. I usually use half a pump and its for the bridge of my nose, under my brow bone, above my cheek bones, a tiny bit on the apples of my cheeks.

Burberry Lip Mist in Copper

A rediscovery of an old love. Of all the Lip Mists I own, I still like this shade the best as Copper is a my lip but better shade.

This tube is quite tiny as it is a mini version that I received as a GWP. I have another 2 more of Copper miniature in my stash. :)

ROYCE' Potato Chip Chocolate

This chocolate coated potato chips is really really delicious!! I couldn't stop eating them! The are quite pricey at $13 a box!! This was a reward for myself after a week of hard work.

Hyaluronic Acid C Jelly Strips

Spotted this hyaluronic jelly strips in my local drugstores, so I bought a few flavours to try out. There is  pear, passion fruit and mango. Of the 3 different flavours I have tried, I liked the pear one best. Not too sure if this really helped with my skin condition, since I have only started eating them not too long ago, but I really enjoy eating jellies and the pear flavour really tasted good.

The pear flavoured jelly is supposed to enhance skin moisturisation with anti-aging effect, while the passion fruit jelly helps with skin elasticity and radiance. As for mango jelly, I threw the box away..... >_<

These jellies does not come cheap, one box with a week's supply cost about $17.

Products below are my favourites from previous months.

Phytodensium, Missha Sheer Fluid Blusher in 03 Sugar Apricot, Naruko Narcissus Defense BB Sunscreen and First Aid Beauty Ultra Repair Lip Therapy.

July 2013 Favourites

Here are my favourites for the month of July ♥ ♥

Phyto Age-defying Serum

After using this scalp serum for a couple of months, I can feel my hair becoming thicker and I have seen new baby hair growing at the corner of my forehead. I also think that my hair fall is lesser and seems to break lesser.

Benefit Porefessional

This helps to hides my pores and create a smooth canvas for my foundation to glide on. This works very well together with the Chanel Vita Lumeire Aqua.

Chanel Vita Lumeire Aqua

Ever since I have bought my bottle of Vita Lumeire Aqua, it has became my exclusive foundation every morning (totally ousting my previous love, the Burberry Velvet Foundation). It is very light weight, easy to apply, controls my oils but not drying. _

Missha Sheer Fluid Blusher in No.3 Sugar Apricot and NARS Sex Appeal

My new favourite cheeks combi for this month! On my skin, its a very natural flush. I apply the fluid blusher with fingers (1 pump for both cheeks) after foundation and concealer then pat on the NARS' blush on top and finish off with pressed powder.

Naruko Tea Tree Oil Out Toner, Balancing Moisturiser, Balancing Serum and Night Gelly

My skin has been misbehaving out of the blue in the mid of July. Overnight, my chin and  my cheeks started to breakout really badly and worsen as the days went by. It really bothered me as my skin was getting so much better before this episode, so I switched out all of my night time products and started using the Naruko Tea Tree Oil Cut range.

The combination of these products are my lifesaver or rather, skin saver. Now, the blemishes started to become smaller and less painful. The worst seemed to be over but my skin is still in a mess. >_<  With my wedding less than 3 months away, I truly hope it will all get better sooner!

The products I am still loving from the previous months are the NARS Larger Than Life Volumizing Mascara and First Aid Beauty Ultra Repair Lip Therapy.

I have tried out a bunch of new stuff but even though they are good, they don't fall into my _♥ category.

Thanks for reading! Till the next time!! Bye~~~!

June 2013 favourites..

Well well, without knowing, another month has just whizzed me by and today is already the very last day of June!!

Initially, I have thought of skipping this entry because I did not use any other "new" products in my routine until the last week of June and  I am pretty much still loving (most of) the products I loved in May. However, I thought that I should still mention how much I am loving these products below throughout the whole of June.

So without further ado, listed below are my top picks for this month.
  • NARS Larger Than Life Volumizing Mascara
  • Naruko Narcissus Defense BB Sunscreen SPF 50
  • First Aid Beauty Ultra Repair Lip Therapy
  • Vichy Purete Thermale Refreshing Toner
  • Vichy Aqualia Thermal Serum
  • Burberry Sheer Glow
  • Burberry Velvet Foundation
The Burberry Sheer Glow and Velvet Foundation have been my favourite base makeup combination for the past X months. I am really loving the Velvet Foundation so much that I have pretty much stopped using any other foundations (with exception of BB creams which I still use when I am in a rush) and Sheer Glow is very much a staple item in my base makeup routine.

Thanks for reading!
Bye!!

May 2013 Favourites

Hi!! Another month has just flew past so quickly! Unknowingly, I have already left my job for 1.5 months and currently I am enjoying life as a couch potato. ^-^

From the title, you would have known that I am going to share my favourite makeup and skincare items for this past month. So let's get started!

Nars Larger Than Life Volumizing Mascara

The formula is a little on the drier side, which I like as wet formulas tends to weight my lashes down and  smear on the lower lids when I blink.

This mascara holds curl, volumises my lashes, does not smudge nor flake throughout the day and my lashes does not feel crispy.

The only con is that fat brush - it is a bit hard to apply for my short lashes.

Naruko Narcissus Defense BB Sunscreen SPF50

I am never a huge BB Cream fan before this product. I would say this is my best find in May.

This BB Sunscreen helps to evens out skin tone, control oil and yet at the same time does not dry out my face. It has a dewy (but not oily) finish, it feels light on the skin and not sticky.

It only gives a light coverage, so foundation and/or concealer is still a must to cover up any pigmentation. If you have good skin, just this sunscreen and maybe a little powder will do.

Canmake Cream Cheek CL02 Clear Love Song Pink

I have this love affair with Canmake's Cream Cheek. Previously, I have used up another Cream Cream in #13 Love Peach.

For this shade CL02, I found it to be of a gelish-cream texture compared to the other Cream Cheeks I own from their regular line, which has more of a creamy texture. Their regular Cream Cheeks are numbered from 01 to 13.

This lasts all day on me. It helps to give a natural flush to the cheeks. It is not sticky, easy to blend and also easy to build the colour up if you want to. Another plus I found is that it can also be used on top of powder.

Butter London Slapper Nail Lacquer

This shade is described as a bold teal shade. In real life it more blue than as photographed. This is a very pretty colour and it is something that I don't have in my collection.

I am not a very good nail painter, so it helps that the consistency of the polish is very smooth and is not streaky. It looks very good on my toes and it makes my feet looks fair.

Clio Gelpresso Waterproof Pencil Gel Liner No.4 Dark Choco

I have oily eyelids, so a lot of eyeliners do not last on me... This one lasts all day on my upper lids without smudging, flaking or creasing, with only minimal fading. On the lower lids, it will smudge just a little, but I can bare with it.

It is retractable unlike the Stila Smudge Stick Waterproof Eye Liner (another eyeliner that I love). Another plus point is that there is a sharpener attached at the end.

First Aid Beauty Ultra Repair Lip Therapy

The smell is like fantastic! Smells like peppermint candy. It heals and moisturies my lips well and sinks into lips fast.

I also I that the packaging has a slant tip applicator, which I like as I find it much easeier to apply.

Vichy Purete Thermale Refreshing Toner

I am not a fussy about my toners, my basic criteria are that it must not irritate my skin and it must not be sticky.

From late last month, I have been trying this toner from Vichy. It is not sticky, absorbs into the skin fast and also soothes my skin.

I spent 4 days in Bali earlier this month and I brought this toner along with me. It really helps to soothe my skin from the sun and also when I travel, I tend to breakout, but this time I didn't. I believe one of the contributing factors must be this toner.

I have already bought a backup of this as my local drugstore was having discount. :)

Vichy Aqualia Therma Serum

The Vichy SA previously pumped some of this serum into a container for me to try. I really liked it so I also bought this hydrating serum during the discount.

I find that this really hydrates my skin, as my skin looks plump and feels bouncy after application. It also absorbs fast and is not sticky. The texture of this serum is rather light, which I find a good match for my combi skin, as richer serums tend to clog my pores.

As much as I enjoy this serum, I am not too sure if I will want to repurchase this again after it has run out.. For a drugstore product, it is on the expensive side at $59 (before discount). I can easily get the Laneige Water Bank Essence at a cheaper price online.

These are the products that I have enjoyed greatly in this month of May. Thanks for reading!
Bye!!
